There is nothing quite like a beautiful sunset. Iijima Sunset Park is just outside of Tsuchizaki and is a great place to sit and watch the sunset over the Japan Sea. The trail that follows the sea towards Detohama is also an excellent viewing area to watch the sunset or go for a walk or bike ride. While the water around Akita City might not be the same pristine waters of Hawai’i, the sunsets are amazing. With the weather getting cooler, I recommend bundling up and enjoying a cup of hot chocolate or hot apple cider as you embrace the moment. As autumn approaches, the BES Adventurer will continue the journey around Akita in search of fall colors!

It is hard to beat Hawai’i when it comes to beauty. I had the opportunity to see an emerald sunset where the sky turns green for a second before the sun finally drops beyond the sea. But I will say, Japan has a lot of beautiful nature, and the sunsets are pretty over the Japan sea

I don’t remember the exact year, but it was about 15 years ago. If you go to Hawai’i, I recommend other islands beyond Oahu. Waikiki is fun for shopping and nightlife, but if you truly want to experience Hawai’i, I suggest the Big Island or Kauai!
